The bald, wistful MS Paint face that became an expandable visual language for melancholy, identity, ideology, subcultures, and almost every possible inner monologue.
The drawing’s exact creator remains unknown. The earliest documented ‘I Wish I Was at Home’ comic appeared in December 2009; the face was reportedly found on Vichan as twarz.jpg and was popularized on the German imageboard Krautchan by a user called Wojak, with an archived post from April 2010. It then spread across international imageboards and grew from a melancholy reaction face into a vast family of characters, comics, and community-specific remixes.
Use the root for raw ‘that feeling’ recognition; use a documented descendant when the joke depends on a specific archetype such as Doomer, Big Brain, Withered, or a scene-building Wojak comic.

The unmodified, melancholy face behind the original ‘that feel’ reaction grammar. This is the canonical root; later named characters remain descendants, not duplicate families.
Reactions prioritize what an archivist reviews next. They never rewrite history automatically.
